Property Management

Suddenly a landlord?

Inherited it, moved for work, could not sell it at the price you wanted. It is a common way to end up owning a rental, and it is a different situation from buying one deliberately.

It is a business now, whether you meant it or not

The same law applies to a house you inherited as to one bought as an investment: fair housing, the deposit rules, the notice periods, the tax reporting. Not knowing is not a defence, and most of the trouble we see comes from people who did not realise they had taken any of it on.

Where to start

Ring us before you advertise it, not after. The two most expensive mistakes — the wrong rent and the wrong tenant — both happen in the first month, and both are much cheaper to avoid than to undo.

Thinking about handing yours over?

Tell us about the property and we will tell you plainly what we would do with it and what it would cost.
