Lead-based paint compliance
A short piece of federal law that is easy to overlook and expensive to get wrong.
What the law asks
For any home built before 1978, a landlord must give residents the EPA pamphlet, disclose any known lead paint, and keep the signed acknowledgement. It applies whether or not anybody thinks there is lead.
What we do about it
We check the build year, attach the disclosure to the lease, and keep the signed record with the tenancy file — so if it is ever asked for, it exists and can be produced.
